Maya Pagán

She/Her

Raised in the heart of San Francisco, Maya was deeply influenced by the artists, activists and visionaries that surrounded her childhood in the vibrant Mission district. She is a third generation early childhood educator. She left the classroom when she became a mother, moving to the east coast to fulfill her dream of raising her son and daughter in a rural setting steeped in nature and attuned to the rhythm of the seasons. She chronicled it all in her award winning lifestyle blog, maya*made, which focused on the intersection of parenting, creativity and sustainability. Maya taught numerous workshops at art retreats and has been featured in dozens of magazines and books, including authoring three of her own books focusing on creativity and wellness.

We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.

HEALING JOURNEY

After the loss of her marriage, Maya discovered the transformative power of yoga to heal. She was determined to bring those teachings to others and pursued her initial 200 RYT certification under the expert direction of Zainab Zakari and Gina Newlin. She was fortunate enough to continue her training with legendary senior teacher Judith Lasater and added Restorative Yoga to her repertoire. She furthered her study in anatomy and physiology with Harvey Deutch and Janet Stone. This was followed by Trauma Sensitive Yoga training with Nicola Mosley of TCTYS. Most recently she completed her 500 RYT in Yoga Psychology with Ashley Turner.

She is thrilled to currently be a member of Tracee Stanley’s Empowered Life Circle, immersing herself in the practice of Yoga Nidra.

Maya has close to 900 hours of experience guiding yoga in studios, clinics, universities, online conferences and outdoor venues. From one on one to large groups she is able to navigate virtual teaching with ease. Maya has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of California Santa Cruz and has authored Reinvention (Wiley Publishing 2012), Hope, Make Heal (Roost Publishing 2014), and Home, Spa, Lab (Workman Publishing 2018).

The stresses and challenges of an increasingly complex world have led to widespread depletion and exhaustion.

Maya provides the support, guidance and tools for slowing down in order to lead a life that is sustainable, balanced and whole.
