Blossoming

I'm so excited to share my new favorite spot with you- Blue Moon Farm! My dear friends bought land 1/4 mile away from my old country house on my favorite road in the world. They've transformed the land into a a floral wonderland... a u-pick flower farm with a fabulous little country store/patisserie filled with home grown summer vegetables and the best pastries around. This Sunday I'll be offering yoga in the meadow surrounded by poppies, calendula, cosmos and more. If you've been missing in-person yoga, this is a wonderful chance to roll out your mat safely while nestled in nature. The yoga area is secluded with plenty of room to spread out and distance from one another. Masks are required until you get to your mat. Please register before Saturday night because I'll be limiting how many students can attend. Registration is simple: email me at mayalunapagan@gmail.com , I'll confirm your slot with links to PayPal and Venmo.

After class you can fetch scissors (sanitized and provided) and gather a bouquet to take home, as well as freshly baked breads and goodies. What a weekend dream!

Maya At Marrakech Medina

Marrakech Medina

I can tell you exactly what I was thinking at this moment when I closed my eyes. Maya you must make room for this wish to come true. See it happening. Make it so. I stood in front of this mandala in a secret garden in the middle of the Medina last May in Marrakech and hoped to bring back others for a journey of self-discovery like the one I was having.

This is what I do. I make things happen. I have an idea, a vision and dream. Sometimes there are too many all at once. A flood. I choose one... the one that feels most ready to be born and carefully craft the steps forward for change. We must make space for growth, take a few risks, try new things. Because what would it cost to remain the same? Each of us will have our own answer.

I've been wanting to share these tools, the magic and the path towards transformation, and I've created the most beautiful opportunity for those who are ready for the life they've been waiting for.

I chose Marrakech because traveling out of your everyday life creates lasting change in how we perceive our connection to ourselves and to the universe. I searched for the most inspiring and gorgeous setting so that all of our senses would awaken and feel nourished. I visited last Peacock Pavilion last spring and it was beyond my wildest dreams. It will be the heart and home of our journey.

Next, I called in the one woman I'd want to weave this magic with me. Zainab Zakari's wisdom and grace have touched so many lives. She is the yoga teacher we all search for. I came to her new to vinyasa and ended up becoming a teacher myself under her guidance. She is the sun and I am the moon. We are merging our passions of her solar (vinyasa) and my lunar (restorative) based yoga to create harmony and balance with your body as you move though each day of our renewing and retreating. She and I have lovingly curated a week of awakening, discoveries and transformation. Along the way will be adventures and deep nurturing. All you need to do is arrive with an open heart and the journey will begin!

mother*well

I gave my first private yoga session to a mother of three the day before my son's birthday this past September. She had only used yoga videos (amidst constant interruptions) and was so excited to have my full attention and be able to experience something created just for her. Afterwards, her elation was my revelation. As I drove the backroads home, I recognized that THIS is what I am being called to do. I've always taken great pleasure in helping people, but most of all, I deeply love supporting mothers who give so much of themselves away. By the time I reached my front door, what I wanted to offer became so specific... so tangible... so clear. The next morning I woke up on my son's 20th birthday (the 20th anniversary of my own motherhood) and mother*well was born. Just like that. I waited until it was a decent hour in California to call my own mom. In one big gush I told her the clarity I had about wanting to guide mothers in how to care for themselves. I told her how I couldn't wait to help them fill their "well" so that they might mother well! And there it was. It even even named itself: mother*well. All roads do truly lead to now, but I've never felt it more than with this new work I am so inspired to do. All of the energy and years put into learning about herbs, nutrition, yoga, compassion, mindfulness, natural body care get to be put to use with the folks who neglect themselves the most. Although I have plenty of formal training in child development and parent education, what I really want to do is teach "mother development and mother education" so that women can nurture their families from a place of abundance rather than depletion. I'm planning several local mini mother retreats for the new year (stay tuned!). But what excites me most is that in this age of technology, I can teleport directly to moms in need who can't leave home because of childcare limitations. When my children were small I would have given anything to have support, guidance, my own yoga teacher come to me during nap time or after the school bus pulled away... or even on a lunch break from work. Squeezing in something for yourself shouldn't be impossible.

I can come to you and help you fill your WELL!

Come on in!

Welcome to the maya*made journal! After years of blogging, I paused a couple of years back and put my energy into Instagram... with just about everyone else in the world. And while I do love Insta's immediacy, it's so nice to have this alternative space. Feels a bit like I'll be inviting you in for tea every now and then, rather than just a neighborly wave from the front porch. I'll be sharing my ideas on living well and thoughts on finding love and peace in this wild world. There will definitely be some recipes and DIYs from time to time because I can't resist giving you those! In fact, I'll be migrating favorite past posts from mayamade.blogspot.com over here... so that if you're looking for one of my oldies but goodies they'll be at your fingertips.

As a creative, I've always found healing and transformation through art. I used to reinvent materials, today I help people to reinvent their lives. I still love making things, but instead of crafting objects- I'm now also crafting experiences. Blending yoga, mindfulness and creativity have taught me how to find balance (and even joy) during incredible challenges. It's a pleasure to be able to share these tools, as we shape shift through the different stages in our life- from girlhood to womanhood. I'm excited for you to join me!

Love,

Maya
